ENTER 2014 call for industry cases

At ENTER 2014, which is organised by the International Federation for Information Technology in Travel and Tourism (IFITT), industry will play an important role and form one of the three main streams of the conference.

ENTER 2014, taking place January 21-24, 2014 in Dublin, calls representatives and technology and marketing practitioners from travel and tourism companies to submit their project proposals showcasing the innovative use of information and communication technologies at their organisation.

At ENTER 2014, which is organised by the International Federation for Information Technology in Travel and Tourism (IFITT), industry will play an important role and form one of the three main streams of the conference. Therefore, IFITT encourages representatives as well as technology and marketing practitioners who have valuable experience working in the travel and tourism sector to submit a project proposal about the unique use of information and communication technologies at their organisation.

In relation to the conference theme ‘Where Social Inspiration Meets Dynamic eTourism Innovation’ topics of the proposals should include, but are not limited to, issues like ‘New technologies in the tourism sector’, ‘Industry visions and trends’, ‘Effective multi-channel branding’ and ‘Opportunities yet to be realised’.

All project proposals have to be sent by May 30, 2013 to ENTER 2014 industry chair Dimitris Serifis (serifis@nelios.com). They should include a short biography (50 words) or CV of the speaker and a short presentation of their organisation (100 words). The proposal has to be written in English as no translation services are available at the conference.

The final acceptance of the project proposal will be announced by August 30, 2013. All submitters will be given feedback stating the acceptance or inappropriateness of their proposal and, possibly, requests for modifications. In the case of acceptance they will be provided with all necessary instructions for the submission of the presentation. After the conference presentations will be published online and made available to all delegates of ENTER 2014.

IFITT is looking forward to getting interesting insights into the practices of technology savvy travel and tourism companies and sharing these insights with its conference delegates, which will contribute to IFITT’s goal to network, collect and disseminate eTourism knowledge and expertise to all stakeholders.

IFITT President Professor Dimitrios Buhalis says: “In today’s extremely dynamic environments it becomes increasingly vital for organisations to keep pace with the latest technologies in order to remain competitive. This is particularly true in the travel and tourism sector. Therefore, the call for industry cases has achieved great success at previous ENTER conferences. We are looking forward to find out about and get inspired by innovative travel and tourism businesses that understand the importance of continuously adjusting their businesses practices to survive in an increasingly competitive industry.”

ENTER 2014 will take place in Dublin between January 21-24, 2014. People intending to attend the conference may register on the website. Discounts are offered to members of IFITT and its partners as well as for students and academics.
