A delegation headed by Chairman and Managing Director of Iran Air, Dazood Keshazarzian met with James Hogan, President and Chief Executive at Gulf Air headquarters in Bahrain last week to explore areas of co-operation and synergies that will benefit both airlines.
Discussions centred on areas of co-operation, including the network, cargo operations, sharing infrastructure, expansion of code sharing, and other opportunities to promote economic development, according to reports in the UAE`s dailies.
At this challenging time for the airline industry, it is important to explore new ways to work together to remove obstacles and create economies of scale, said James Hogan, commenting on the discussions.
Partnerships and co-operation hold the potential to make our industry more efficient in meeting the requirements of the market and serving our customers better, he added. Collaboration also holds the key to developing the tremendous potential of the entire region. We share the important task of promoting and encouraging economic development within this region, he said.
In closing the parties re-iterated their intention to continue discussions in pursuing co-operation and shared goals and the development of the region. Further meetings are to be scheduled for later in the year.
