Logan Teleflex completes multi million baggage upgrade programme at Saudi Arabia airports

The multi million pound series of projects were undertaken with Logan Teleflex’s Saudi Arabia partner, Rajab & Silsilah, based in Jeddah and Riyadh.

World class baggage systems integrator, Logan Teleflex has successfully completed its programme of upgrading 15 domestic airports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, by installing new Departures and Arrivals systems in each of them.

The Departures systems include new check-ins with integrated x-ray screening, providing a more advanced inline screening system and smoother passenger flow as well as improved security.

The multi million pound series of projects were undertaken with Logan Teleflex’s Saudi Arabia partner, Rajab & Silsilah, based in Jeddah and Riyadh. Rajab & Silsilah carried out the integration work and onsite installation, under supervision of Logan Teleflex, which supplied equipment and new manufactured Arrivals carousels.

The upgrade programme included existing front of house Smith Heimann x-ray screening machines which were moved to be integrated with the check-in positions. Smith Heimann provided the interface software modules to connect the screening equipment with the checkins.

The programme is part of a £20 billion investment to develop and upgrade airports in Saudi Arabia by 2020. The scheme follows the forecast of the Saudi Arabia’s GACA (General Authority of Civil Aviation) two years ago that airport traffic was expected to double to 60 million passengers per annum within ten years. It was GACA itself who placed the initial contract with Logan Teleflex.

Alan Young, Business Development Manager for Logan Teleflex stated: “We are delighted with the success of our projects in Saudi Arabia. The General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia greatly appreciated the effort that Logan Teleflex put into ensuring the upgrade programme was completed efficiently. We look forward to similar projects of this capacity in the future.”
