Mgallery adds three prestigious addresses in France to its collection

MGallery, Accor‘s collection of upscale hotels, now boasts three new establishments in South West France: Hotel de la Cite in Carcassonne, Hotel Burdigala in Bordeaux and Hotel Parc Beaumont in Pau. These openings illustrate the brand’s dynamic growth with a network that now totals 11 establishments in France.

MGallery, which currently has over 50 hotels in 18 countries and five continents, continues its expansion. By 2015, the brand aims to have 100 establishments worldwide, with over one third, or more than 30, in France. "These three hotels, which are operated under franchise agreements, chose to join the MGallery Collection and are all perfect illustrations of the soul we want to give the brand. In accordance with the group’s announced "asset light" strategy, we have made this type of expansion a priority for our network: the Hotel de la Cite, Burdigala and Parc Beaumont are all based on this operating model. MGallery continues to expand in France with three openings due soon in Paris, Lyon and Southern France", comments Julie Gregoire, CEO of MGallery France.

The Collection’s three new establishments, located respectively in the heart of the medieval fortress city of Carcassonne, in the center of Bordeaux and on the edge of Pau’s Parc Beaumont, each boasts unique, distinctive personalities and exceptional settings.

Hotel de la Cite: travelling back in time
The timeless charm of Hotel de la Cite, which was built in 1906 in neo-gothic style, has lasted through the centuries. There is an air of mystery about this five star hotel and guests will be charmed by its many secrets. The 61-room hotel has two restaurants: "La Barbacane", a fine-dining establishment run by Michelin-star chef Jerome Ryon and "Chez Saskia", a privileged setting for breakfast or a relaxed meal. Both restaurants spotlight regional specialties and artisanal products. The hotel boasts its own wine cellar and a large selection of wines with advice and recommendations provided by its wine steward Georges Gracia.

Contemporary refinement in the world’s wine capital
Hotel Burdigala takes its name from the ancient Gallo-Roman city that is now Bordeaux. The hotel, created by the Gaillac family, opened in 1988. It has a typical Bordeaux 18th-century-style white stone facade that blends in perfectly with the city’s traditional architecture. The hotel was entirely refurbished during the summer of 2011 and now features contemporary, sober, refined interiors. Satin sheets, upholstered bedheads, noble materials and shades of grey give the 75 rooms and eight suites a cosy, stylish atmosphere. The wine cellar, right next to the restaurant, boasts a very good selection of fine Bordeaux wines to enhance the gourmet food served in the hotel’s restaurant, "Le Jardin de Burdigala", which gives pride of place to local products.

A balcony with a view of the Pyrenees
Hotel Parc Beaumont has 80 rooms and suites designed by architectural firm Camborde-Lamaison. They all boast magnificent views of the Pyrenees and are ideal for a relaxing stay. At the hotel’s restaurant, "Le Jeu de Paume", the chef creates dishes that feature local products, for example, salmon from Casteit, duck from Biraben and Ossau Iraty ewe cheese, so that guests can enjoy a unique gourmet experience. The bright and comfortable meeting rooms feature large bay windows overlooking the park and offer business customers the latest amenities and cutting edge technologies. The hotel also has a spa, a heated swimming pool, a sauna, a hammam, a jacuzzi and a beauty salon. The fragrance of green tea essence is dispelled in the spa, bedrooms and corridors.

"The network’s expansion in France reflects our international ambitions. In 2012, MGallery plans to open over ten hotels worldwide, notably in the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Hungary and the Pacific region," concludes Frederic Fontaine, Senior VP Global Marketing Mercure and MGallery.
