Skytender inflight cart takes first flight

The system is able to produce such large quantities of drinks as it carries 30L of hot and cold water inside the cart, a bonus for cabin crew as repeated walks to aircraft galleys to refill water jugs are now a thing of the past.

GERMANY – After years of research and development the Skytender Trolley took to the skies recently on its’ first ever commercial flight on German airline WDL Aviation flying from Cologne to Palma Majorca. Staff from inflight caterer LSG Sky Chefs as well as Skymax staff were involved to oversee this very innovative flight, amid the fanfare of excitement and curiosity from passengers the Skytender Trolley was put to the test during the two hour flight.

GM of Skymax Oliver Kloth said “Our first ever test flight was a complete success, the system operated as expected and we have generated even more interest in our innovative product, the passengers were extremely pleased with the beverage options and most importantly the quality and speed of service.”

The full service trolley provides passengers with hot and cold drink options without the need for cabin crew to pour and open traditional drink options for passengers. With the touch of a button cabin crew are able to serve a range of quality hot and cold drink items such as juices, soft drinks, cocktails, and hot drinks. There is no need for cabin crew to use traditional water boilers or coffee makers in the aircraft galley, as the Skytender Trolley looks after all these processes itself.

With minimal set up the cabin crew were able to set up the trolley quickly in order to serve their eager passengers, the system itself produced the drinks as passengers requested them. It can produce 235 drinks (160ml size) with over 100 flavors available that airlines to choose from. Each trolley can be configured to the airlines needs offering 18 drink options on each trolley giving a greater choice of hot and cold beverages inflight.

The Skytender Trolley will soon be taking to the skies on several other airlines, it offers a low cost solution to airlines who still want to offer a great range of inflight beverages without the need of actually keeping stocks of drinks inflight.
