VITM Vietnam International Travel Mart-Hanoi 2014

Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) is an annual professional event  organized by Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA) and is the largest outbound travel mart in Vietnam. The first VITM was held in Hanoi, from 18th to 21st April 2013 housing 368 booths of 401 companies and organizations from 18 countries. Over the 4 day event, beside the B2B activities and dozens of international conferences and product and destination presentations, over six thousand tour packages and nearly ten thousand air tickets sold out, making it Vietnam’s largest B2C tourism and travel market.

Business expansion

Outbound travel: Vietnam is among fastest growing outbound markets. It is estimated that in 2013 there would be 4 million Vietnamese travelling abroad and spending about 4.5 billion US dollars. Yet, outbound travel is still a new sector, and Vietnam’s travel agencies and travellers lack information about destinations and attractive tourism products (leisure, shopping, medical, wellness tours..).

Being the largest outbound travel fair in Vietnam, VITM 2014 offers business a great number of opportunities in this market for face-to-face contact with thousands of local trade professionals and potential travellers.

Inbound travel: With numerous World Heritage sites, hundreds of fascinating destinations combined with a people that are rich in traditional culture and diversity of cuisine,Vietnam is one of the world’s top tourism destinations.

VITM 2014 will provide opportunities for buyers to have fam trips to discover Vietnam, build connections with local inbound operators, and thus bring more visitors to Vietnam.

Launch Tourism demand stimulation program 2014

The efficient collaboration between airlines and the rest of the tourism sectors is helping to create interesting, reasonably priced, and competitive tour packages that will boost domestic travel and foster the socio-economic development of the remote and rural areas of Vietnam through the sensitive development of their rich natural and cultural products.

Education and hospitality training

Growth international arrivals to Vietnam has remained steady over the past decade reaching 6.8 millions in 2012 (and with 7.5 million expected in 2013). Meanwhile there is a huge shortage of skilled employees within the tourism industry with only 40% of workforce formally trained.  VITM 2014 will bring  better chances for education/training providers to grasp new business.

Sustainable growth

With awareness of the need for environmentally and socially responsible tourism growing in Vietnam the VITM 2014 is encouraging and supporting organizations/companies to develop exhibition booths and disseminate information material that sensitively care for and promote the local environment and people.  Moreover, with consumers increasingly demanding tourism companies to be more environmentally and socially responsible companies that implement sustainable approaches will better meet consumer demand and stand out from the competition.
