Shopping Malls in Dhaka

Jamuna Future Park
Jamuna Future Park is the largest shopping mall in South Asia, located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was partially inaugurated on 6 September 2013, only Level-5 and the theme park are open to public. The construction started in 2002, by Jamuna Builders Ltd., a subsidiary of the Jamuna Group. It is also the 12th largest shopping mall in the world with a gross leasable area of 4.1 million sq ft and total area of 5.45 million sq ft.

Bashundhara City
Bashundhara City is a shopping mall located in Dhaka, Bangladesh, with a rotunda architecture. Opened to the public on 6 August 2004, the mall is located at Panthapath, near Karwan Bazar. Bashundhara City is 21 stories tall, of which 8 are used for the mall and the remainder as the corporate headquarters of the Bashundhara Group.

Mouchak Market
Mouchak Market is one of the oldest and famous markets in Dhaka city. It was probably situated in the 1940s. It was also one of the most famous markets at the time and was mostly visited by the British and French rulers over Dhaka. It is known to be the General Meeting Building of the Royal British Family.

New Market, Dhaka
New Market is a commercial shopping market in north of Azimpur, Dhaka.The construction of the market started in 1952 by CBD during the period of Nurul Amin, the Chief Minister of East Pakistan. Construction was completed in 1954. This heralded the beginning of a new area of development towards modernizing Dhaka. Rickshaw ride or walking along the narrow lanes of old Dhaka for shopping was not a happy experience for families.

Metro Shopping Mall
Globalization and modernization have had an impact on Dhaka city architecture. This can be seen in the design of markets and the market motif, manifested in consumerism as a life style and a culture. Within the past few years many shopping malls have been established and global brand products have become widely available, which in turn has an impact on the quality of local products. The modern markets and the products they sell are the most obvious examples of the influence of the West on contemporary urban Bangladesh.

Eastern Plaza is one of the first shopping malls in the city of Dhaka. It is a 10 storied shopping mall; the upper floors are used as other business purposes.
