Swiss International Air Lines will continue to serve 70 destinations worldwide under the new winter timetable, which takes effect on October 31. Alicante was added to the route network in September, bringing to 43 the number of destinations SWISS serves in Europe. On the intercontinental front SWISS serves 27 destinations, with flights to Karachi being discontinued.

SWISS is improving its product by offering more attractive departure times, optimised connections and more frequencies. In Europe, a total of 43 destinations in 22 countries are served, while intercontinental services comprise 27 cities in 19 countries. The total number of destinations in the route work remains unchanged from the summer timetable, with one more destination in Europe and one less on the intercontinental front. In addition, 13 more destinations are served with codeshare flights operated by SWISS partner airlines. These flights carrying an LX flight number.

European operations

In Zurich the route network has been expanded with the addition of Alicante. Improved departure times have been introduced for flights to Budapest, Copenhagen, Manchester, Warsaw, Prague and Geneva. Extra frequencies have been added for flights to London City, Manchester and Prague. Thanks to new codeshare flights, SWISS customers can take advantage of additional services to Budapest (operated by Malev) and Copenhagen (operated by Maersk).

From Basel, passengers will now fly to London City rather than London Heathrow. In Berlin, SWISS moves operations to Tegel Airport due to the planned closure of Tempelhof.

The winter timetable also connects Geneva with London City. Codeshare flights to Heathrow, which are operated by British Airways, will remain available for the time being. Also new are a non-stop daily codeshare flight between Geneva and Copenhagen, operated by Maersk Air, and a twice-daily codeshare service between Geneva and Budapest, operated by Malev. In response to demand from numerous business travellers, SWISS has added a third morning flight from Geneva to Zurich, departing at 07:00.

The popular winter alpine destination of Sion will be served on Saturdays from mid-December to mid-April with a Zurich-Sion-London-Sion-Zurich pattern. This service provides easy access to the Alps of Canton Valais for winter tourists from the UK and other countries, either non-stop or via Zurich.

In Europe, SWISS itself serves 42 destinations out of Zurich, 14 from Basel and 9 from Geneva. Our codeshare partners complement this route network with service to another ten destinations from Zurich and five from Geneva.

Intercontinental operations

From Zurich and Geneva, SWISS offers non-stop service to 27 intercontinental destinations. As of the start of the winter timetable the extension service between Dubai and Karachi will cease to operate. Instead SWISS will include Muscat (via Dubai) in its daily operations. Service to Tripoli will be increased from three to five times weekly starting November 28.

On January 16, 2005, the Zurich – New York / Newark route will be served with a Boeing Business Jet operated by partner PrivatAir on behalf of SWISS.

SWISS and American Airlines will adjust departure and arrival times for their jointly operated flights for even more convenience for passengers.

SWISS codeshare partners will continue to offer non-stop service to three destinations from Zurich and one from Geneva.

SWISS offers codeshare service to other destinations in the USA, Spain, Finland and Australia (Sydney) via the hubs of partners American Airlines, Iberia, Finnair and Qantas.

The SWISS timetable is published in four languages, with a print run of 210,000 copies. It is available in travel agencies and SWISS sales offices. The timetable can also be downloaded easily to a computer or handheld and kept up to date with monthly updates.
