I am from the U.S. We have different type of debit cards. The debit card we have here can work at least two ways Pin transaction that goes over the atm network (Star, Nyce, Maestro, Visa interlink, Plus, etc) Signature transactions that goes over the Mastercard or Visa credit card network. Both methods come out of your checking account. Debit Pin transactions in most cases are cheaper for merchants than debit signature transactions. A few merchants and a few banks charge pin transactions fee but most do not. |
