CommentsWith all due respect to Mr. Nowlis, I would beg to differ on his comments on Safety and Security. He has mentioned that Terrorism fears will keep Israel, Indonesia, Iraq and India off the mainstream tourist circuit for the foreseeable future.

India with its size and diversity should not be included in the list, I agree that there are areas affected with conflict, but these areas are far away from the tourism centres like Rajasthan, South India and the Golden Triangle. Most tourists that do get affected by conflicts are not the main stream tourists but hitch hikers and back packers.

It would be a shame to brand one of the most dynamic tourist destinations based on perception rather than facts. I do agree that there are issues that the Indian Government has not been able to resolve in terms to infrastructure for tourists, but then that is a totally separate issue and adds to the charm of going to India.

Kind regards,

Poll
How will the currently developing financial crisis and oil prices rally affect the tourism industry?.

they will have temporary and minimal effect and the situation will stabilize in a year or two

we should be looking at a restructuring in the international tourism movements and trends

it is still too early to access the impact on world tourism, medium or long term

we will see more tourism closer to home, and less international travel
