Atalanta Marine and Alpine Center partner

On 2 March the Presidents & CEO’s of Atalanta Marine Co., Greece and Alpine Center, Switzerland, signed an agreement for the joint design and delivery of short and long courses and seminars aimed at yacht crew members who wish to upgrade their service and management skill sets, and at newcomers wishing to enter the exciting world of working on yachts and mega yachts. Present at the meeting, and a brainchild of the project, was Captain Panayiotis Kammenos, Chairman of the Pan Hellenic Association of Yacht Crew Members since 2007 and an avid believer in training and striving for excellence in service on professional yachts.

Atalanta Marine is a company with a wealth of experience in the field of yachting. It is the market leader in the area of management, sales and chartering of crewed yachts in Greece, a position that it maintains due to its desire for constant improvement and its commitment to excellence. The company is one of the six entities that constitute the Atalanta Group and it covers the full spectrum of yachting services in the rapidly developing Greek yachting industry. Atalanta Marine manages some of the most prestigious Greek yachts and provides owners with the most reliable services in Greece.

Alpine Center is a Swiss hospitality and tourism management training and education center that was established in Greece in 1987 with the mission of preparing young men and women for successful careers in the international hospitality and tourism industry. Its portfolio of courses include specialized training and education at all levels for hotels, restaurants, spas, events companies, cruise ship operations and other segments of the global service industry.

The yachting business in Greece enjoys a great potential to become one of the largest centers of sea tourism. Over 3,500 Greek flag private and professional yachts sail in one of the epi-centers of super yachts in the world -the Mediterranean Sea! The yachting industry is expanding worldwide and the yachts, with their advanced technology, get bigger every year.

To meet the increasing demand for highly qualified and trained crew, Alpine Atalanta Yacht Crew Member Training is launched to provide education and training at the highest level to crew members already employed in the yacht business and to those aspiring to embark on a career in this fascinating business.

The first 40-hour seminar in Executive Chief Steward/ess Training is scheduled to take place from 2-11 April 2012 at the campus of Alpine Center. The seminar is designed for those interior crew members who have worked or are working in the luxury yachting industry and who aspire to undertake the role of Chief Steward/ess. Another seminar is scheduled for 21-30 May.

For those aspiring to join the yachting industry, a 10-week course that blends theory and practical elements designed to equip candidates with skills for their entry positions will be launched on 12 October 2012.
