Jumeirah Group, the global luxury hospitality company and a member of Dubai Holding, has been named hotel chain of the year by "Global Traveler", a monthly magazine for business and luxury travellers in the US.

The winners were selected by a panel of Global Traveler employees and Advisory Board members. A total of 26 hotels were invited to participate and only those invited were considered for the honour.

Global Traveler readers are frequent premium travellers averaging 16 international and 16 domestic round-trip flights a year. Global Traveler's readers spend an average 100 nights per year in hotels and 76% regularly travel in business class.

Since the beginning of 2011 Jumeirah Group has doubled the number of hotels, resorts and residences it operates worldwide, tripling its presence in Europe with prime luxury properties including a hotel in Rome, a Frankfurt hotel, a property in Mallorca (Spain), two hotels in London and a hotel in Istanbul. The company is also expanding its presence in the Middle East, with new properties under management in Dubai and Abu Dhabi; and making its presence felt in Asia with two resorts in the Maldives and the Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel in Shanghai.

The award ceremony will take place at The Peninsula Beverly Hills in California on 12 December 2012.
