Cruise and Maritime Voyages introduces new approach to onboard recycling

Ft. LAUDERDALE, FL – Cruise and Maritime Voyages is showcasing a new approach to onboard recycling. In 2013, passengers on board Cruise and Maritime Voyages (CMV) ships Marco Polo and Discovery will be introduced to a most unusual way of recycling. Using popular waste items such as ring pulls, food packaging such as potato chip packets, and used mailing bags, one of CMV’s craft experts Krystyne Lamb makes them into fashion items.

The innovative and unusual craft activities have become popular sessions onboard. Feedback from cruisers has been very positive. In fact, lots of female passengers have even been spotted carrying their handmade evening bags to the Captain’s cocktail party, which they created earlier that day out of ring pulls from drink cans. Other popular items made are belts and handbags from recycled potato chip packets or plastic bags (see image attached).

CMV craft expert, Lamb brings a great deal of enthusiasm to her role and often finds her sessions spill out from the designated craft-room areas into the adjacent bars and lounges. Lamb is booked to instruct on the February 28th Marco Polo sailing, “Land of the Northern Lights” two week cruise, and then is set to work on six cruises onboard Discovery starting on April 12th with the six-night “Celtic Landscapes” cruise sailing from Bristol Avonmouth that visits Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man.

CMV has a an expansive program of activities ready on board to keep travelers entertained with stylish shows and live music, Super Craft sessions and guest speakers are booked throughout 2013. A Laugh on the Ocean Waves is offered on certain departures where the focus is on laughter with guest comedians. Other new activities include “An Audience with…” – CMV’s slant on the popular British TV series with guest artists interviewed and passengers able to ask questions. There is a full program of speakers on all types of subjects.
