airberlin is continuing to expand its presence in Hungary with a new Country Manager and additional frequent flights. As Country Manager for Hungary and Poland, Tamas Hanyi is responsible for sales in both markets. The native Hungarian reports to Mohammed Nasr, Area Manager Eastern Europe. As of 6th May 2013, airberlin will operate two daily flights from Berlin to Budapest from Monday to Friday.
At yesterday's press conference in Budapest, Otto Gergye, Senior Vice President Sales Scheduled Services, said: "The connection between Berlin and Budapest has developed well from the outset. We are increasing the frequencies of flights for the second time since establishing the route in February 2012. We will then be able to offer optimum flight times for business travellers in particular and offer guests from Hungary excellent onward connections via our hub in Berlin. This means that compared to all other airlines flying from Budapest, for instance, airberlin is able to offer the shortest travel and transfer time for flights between Budapest and New York."
A flight on both Tuesday and Thursday evenings has been added to the existing flight schedule. This means that airberlin is able to offer the option of commuting between Berlin and Budapest on working days at times that fit in around working hours.
On Saturdays, airberlin is also flying from Berlin to Budapest, thereby complementing the existing connection from Budapest to Berlin. On Sundays, airberlin operates one flight to Budapest and back. Travellers from Budapest have the opportunity to continue their journey via Berlin, for example, with flights to Copenhagen, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Oslo or to Zurich, New York or Abu Dhabi. From these locations, travellers can reach destinations further afield in Asia, Africa or Australia with airberlin's partner Etihad Airways.
