Five-Star Carrier’s Warm And Generous Onboard Hospitality Recognised By Readers Of Prestigious Magazine.

DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES – Qatar Airways has been honoured in Dubai with the Best Cabin Crew in the world award as voted by readers of the Middle East edition of the prestigious industry magazine Business Traveller.

The Doha-based airline was voted ahead of neighbouring airlines for its five-star service to take the coveted award, presented at a lavish ceremony held at the Address Hotel Dubai Marina. Guests from across the regional and global travel, tourism and hospitality industries attended the annual event.

It was a fitting start to Qatar Airways’ major presence at Arabian Travel Market (ATM), the Middle East’s premier regional travel trade show taking place in Dubai this week.

Qatar Airways Country Manager UAE Fadi Hijazin collected the award on behalf of the airline, adding to the international recognition the carrier has gained with a growing list of awards.

Voting by readers of Business Traveller Middle East was based on the strength of the airline’s renowned inflight service offered by its world-class cabin crew to travellers.

Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said the latest award reflected the airline’s continued commitment to excellence.

“On behalf of Qatar Airways, I would like to thank the readers of Business Traveller Middle East magazine and all who travel with us for once again giving their vote of confidence to us and strongly believing in our onboard service, hospitality and professionalism,” he said.

“All airlines covet the title of best cabin crew as the personal experience when travelling is one of the most important so this specific award is particularly pleasing. Qatar Airways’ cabin crew are renowned around the world for the levels of service and this title confirms our promise of an unrivalled experience that can only be enjoyed by our travellers. Our customers are true advocates of our product and it is a delight to see their praise for our cabin crew on routes around the world.”

During ATM, Qatar Airways announced route expansion on three continents together with a huge increase in capacity in Pakistan as part of its continued aggressive growth strategy.

The Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa will become the carrier’s 20th destination on the African continent, launching on September 18, followed a month later by Clark International Airport in the Philippines from October 28. And effective March 1 next year, the airline will introduce Philadelphia as its fifth US gateway.

The airline is promoting its new Boeing 787 Business and Economy Class seats at ATM this week. The carrier is the Middle East launch customer of the 787 Dreamliner.

Qatar Airways has so far launched four destinations this year – Gassim (Saudi Arabia), Najaf (Iraq), Phnom Penh (Cambodia) and Chicago (USA).

Over the next few weeks and months, the network will grow further with Salalah, Oman (May 22), Basra and Sulaymaniyah (Iraq on June 3 and August 20 respectively), Chengdu, China (September 3) and newly announced routes of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (September 18), Clark International Airport, Philippines (October 28) and Philadelphia, due to launch on March 1, 2014.

Qatar Airways has seen rapid growth in just 16 years of operations, currently flying a modern fleet of 124 aircraft to 126 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and The Americas.
