Titan Airways, the London Stansted-based, specialist charter airline today announced that it has successfully achieved IATA’s Operational Safety Audit, IOSA, registration. IATA established this internationally recognised quality-standard for airlines in 2003 and the evaluation system has been designed to comprehensively assess the operational management and control systems of an airline.
The Audit covers key aspects of an airline’s operations including: Corporate Organisation and Management, Flight Operations, Operational Control and Flight Dispatch, Aircraft Engineering and Maintenance, Cabin Operations, Aircraft Ground Handling, Cargo Operations and Operational Security. IOSA audits are conducted in a standardised and consistent manner and are renewed every two years. All 241 IATA members are on the IOSA Registry.
“IOSA is a stringent safety and quality audit programme and is recognised throughout the industry. Our new registration will certainly have a positive influence on our development,” said Paul Woodman, Technical Director, Titan Airways. “In the lead up to the IOSA audit, we carried out a rigorous internal evaluation of all processes within the operational departments and commercial departments where organisational management and safety were concerned, to verify that the IOSA standards were met and that the organisation’s Safety Management System was fulfilling its objectives. The process clearly proved its worth and we are very proud of our performance,” he added.
Titan’s 12-strong fleet, ranging from its six seat Cessna Citation CJ2+ to its 265 seat Boeing 767, operates all over Europe and beyond. The company supports several leading airlines in a sub-charter role and the IOSA registration will be particularly beneficial in strengthening this side of the business.
This news comes as Titan Airways marks its 25th birthday this spring and follows its recent Management Buyout (MBO) from 3i, led by Titan CEO and founder Gene Willson.
