Titan Airways expands airline support role

Titan Airways’ all-white Airbus A320, the latest addition to the carrier’s expanding fleet, has been branded in Jet2.com’s colours (pictured) for the period of the lease.

Stansted-based charter specialist, Titan Airways, has boosted its airline support activity this summer in a two aircraft deal with Jet2.com.  One of Titan’s three Boeing 757 aircraft has been contracted to the growing low-cost carrier on a damp lease basis and is currently based in Manchester, and Titan Airways’ Airbus A320-233 has been contracted on a wet lease basis and is currently based in Newcastle. Both aircraft are covering the peak summer period from May to mid-September on Jet2.com’s popular routes to the Balearics and to other Mediterranean destinations.

Alastair Kiernan, Titan Airways’ Commercial Director, commented, “It is great to see the Airbus fulfilling an airline sub-charter role so soon after joining the Titan fleet. The aircraft had only been with us for a few weeks and had already been flying on an ACMI basis for Dutch carrier Transavia when Jet2.com committed to the longer term lease. We had anticipated strong demand for the A320 from other airlines for wet/damp lease and airline sub-charter and are thrilled with the response we’ve had to date.”

Titan Airways has built a strong industry reputation through its ‘Go Now’ policy, which guarantees that an aircraft can be airborne within 60 minutes of flight confirmation. This is particularly popular with airlines requiring instant operational solutions after suffering an Aircraft on Ground (AOG) failure. Alongside its rapid response support to other airlines, Titan now hopes to strengthen its position in the aircraft leasing sector with the Airbus and the other aircraft in the fleet.

Titan regularly operates flights on behalf of British Airways, British Airways Cityflyer, Aer Lingus, Meridiana, Thomas Cook Airlines, Monarch Airlines, Thomsonfly, Arke Fly, Jet 4 You, TUI, Condor, Transavia, Aurigny and EasyJet.
