Villas in Mykonos and Santorini will see boost next summer

Mykonos and Santorini are very popular with UK and international travellers. Yet until now the islands have proved difficult to access with most flight routes requiring a stopover in Athens.

UK carrier British Airways is set to launch direct flights from London Heathrow Airport to the popular Greek islands of Mykonos and Santorini for summer 2014. Portugal and Malaga will also see twice-weekly direct flights available from Heathrow from next year. Lynne Embleton, BA director of strategy, said: “We want to give our customers even more great destinations to choose from next summer. We believe the introduction of Oporto, Mykonos and Santorini will prove very popular with holiday-makers looking for summer sun and the start of flights to Faro and Malaga from Heathrow, plus the increase in frequencies to a number of popular summer routes will give them even more choice.”

Mykonos and Santorini are very popular with UK and international travellers. Yet until now the islands have proved difficult to access with most flight routes requiring a stopover in Athens. For transatlantic travellers who may already have multiple legs to their trip, the new direct flights from London’s Heathrow will be a welcome option. According to IAVRA Partner JC Moquette, “In spite of the economic instability in the country over the last few years, Greece continues to attract tourists. In fact, it remains one of IAVRA’s most popular European vacation rental destinations for the months of July and August with UK and international agents alike. And with the introduction of more convenient flight routes from early next summer we are confident that our property agents in Mykonos and Greece will see an increase in enquiries for their properties.”

IAVRA gives travel agents access to over 430 professionally managed properties in Greece. These holiday rentals are represented directly by 13 of the region’s most reputable property management companies including Aqualiving, Beyond Spaces and new IAVRA agent Once Upon a Villa. The Greek portfolio on IAVRA is varied both in the destinations it covers as well as the price point, offering properties for as little as €400 a week for a 2-bedroom villa with private pool to 60,000 euros a week for a 16-bedroom luxury villa in Mykonos. With the introduction of two weekly direct flights from London to Mykonos starting from 3 May 2014 and to Santorini from 4 May 2014, IAVRA will be looking to bring on new property agents in the region to help satisfy the expected increase in demand for alternative holiday accommodation options. Flights are now on sale for May departures at BA.com.

IAVRA is a b2b vacation rental platform for the travel trade, connecting the top international travel agents with the best property management companies worldwide. The unique, closed platform gives users access to 5,900+ rental properties in 50 countries. Site features and tools help to differentiate it from your typical listing site: agent branded e-brochures and property selection charts, guaranteed minimum 10% commission on every property, and marketing tools to help agents promote vacation rentals to their clients. IAVRA makes the process easy for travel professionals and property managers, allowing them to network internationally and directly on a trusted platform. IAVRA does not take a commission on bookings made through the site.
