Ethan Allen Hotel awarded with Green Lodging Certification

Ethan Allen Hotel was awarded this certification based upon multiple systems that they have put in place to save on energy and water waste, paper re-use, and more.

EXETER, N.H. – Hay Creek Hotels is pleased to announce that the Ethan Allen Hotel, located in Danbury, Connecticut, was recently certified as a Connecticut Green Lodging Facility. Presented by the Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CDEEP), Daniel C. Etsy, the award recognizes Ethan Allen’s commitment to operating in an eco-friendly manner, with particular attention paid to environmental matters.

Ethan Allen Hotel was awarded this certification based upon multiple systems that they have put in place to save on energy and water waste, paper re-use, and more. The hotel created a green committee comprised of the front office manager, as well as heads of housekeeping and maintenance. As a result, the three department heads were able to look at all of the systems in place and see where all departments could improve.

“We are honored with being recognized as one of Connecticut’s Green Hotels”, said Janice Perna-Nicholas, General Manager, Ethan Allen Hotel. “But we will not stop here. We continue to seek out systems that will enable us to become more efficient and effective in our operators to conserve.”

Norman MacLeod, President of Hay Creek Hotels, commented, “We are delighted that the Ethan Allen Hotel been awarded with the Connecticut Green Lodging Hotel Certificate. As a company, we are constantly focused on ensuring all our hotels become greener and hope that this is the first of many green awards for Hay Creek Hotels.”

The Green Lodging certificate is the latest in a long line of awards in 2013 for the Ethan Allen Hotel and Hay Creek Hotels. This year, Ethan Allen was awarded with the “Brides Choice Award” by Wedding Wire for the second consecutive year and named the “Best Special Occasions Venue” by the Danbury Patch. Hay Creek properties have now totaled 31 awards in 2013 alone in a variety of categories including certificates of excellence, restaurant awards, and honors and recognition for weddings, wine, new hotels, romance, and historical preservation.
