French Winemaker opens vineyard guest houses

Located within a natural park, Domaine Tour De Belfort is owned by the Lismonde family who, ten years ago, bought and lovingly restored this ancient bramble-covered bastide, building from its ruins an impressive chateau, state-of-the-art winery, a conference centre and spa and a selection of cottages in the grounds.

New for 2014. Award-winning French vineyard Tour De Belfort has announced plans to open guest accommodation in the grounds of its private family-owned domaine in the beautiful Lot Valley.

Set amidst this exclusive estate, just two houses will be available to rent on a weekly basis during High Season with the vineyard – which produces organic wines – providing the perfect backdrop for a tranquil romantic retreat or as an ideal base for discovering this unspoilt corner of South West France.

Now in their fourth year of wine-making (winning industry acclaim for each vintage), the Lismondes have established a loyal following in the UK and in response to many requests from customers have decided to open up two of their houses to guests.

Visitors will be able to choose from the Troglodyte, a unique house carved from the rock itself and renovated in Medieval style – and The Farmhouse which is built on the remains of the second of two fortified towers that have lent their name to the Tour in Tour De Belfort.

The Troglodyte sleeps up to five and is available from 800 Euros per week. The Farmhouse sleeps six comfortably and has the option of a separate entrance for groups choosing to share. The Farmhouse comes with a small pool, private gardens and terrace and the rate is 1000 Euros to 1200 Euros per week.

Both properties are available in High Season only on an accommodation-only basis and have free use of a shared tennis court and hot tub.

Guests can enjoy wine tasting on site and a tour of the vineyard and winery, whilst the Lismondes would be delighted to share their knowledge of wine and wine making with their visitors.

For those wanting to explore the area, Domaine Tour De Belfort nestles amid dramatic craggy landscape just south of Cahors, around an hour’s drive from Toulouse Airport. Slumbering peacefully between the popular Dordogne area, the world-acclaimed wineries of Bordeaux and the glitz and glamour of the Riveria, this peaceful rural idyll offers a wealth of hidden gems to explore.

Once home to the infamous Cathars, this is a place where mountain roads meander through remote medieval hilltop Villages Perche where time seems to have stood still.  Towering high above a river with breathtaking views to enjoy, is the wonderfully preserved 13th Century St-Cirq-Lapopie.

Visit Unesco-listed Conques, surrounded by mountains and forests; see Najac’s ruined fortress; call in at Penne which has grown up amongst its tumbledown castle ruins; savour the famous Quercy black truffle of Lalbanque; or take in the gorgeous gorges that punctuate the region – Saint Antonin Noble Val is gateway to the spectacular Gorges de l’Aveyron.
