Hay Creek Hotels to open and manage Porter Square Hotel in Cambridge, MA

The hotel is being constructed by Newton based Young Construction, who has several impressive commercial and residential developments in the City of Cambridge.

EXETER, NH – Hay Creek Hotels announced that the new Porter Square Hotel is now under construction with plans for a grand opening in the spring of 2015. The hotel is the product of an extensive, community-based design that resonates with the vibrancy of the local neighborhood and the city itself. The property is situated in the heart of Porter Square, close to both MIT and Harvard University, as well as numerous commercial and tourist destinations.

The hotel will consist of 70 upscale creative guest rooms, each containing amenities designed exclusively for today’s business and leisure traveler. As a full service hotel it will feature a dynamic signature style restaurant and bar with a seasonal open air patio along the busy Massachusetts Avenue walkway, a bustling vibrant cultural neighborhood filled with local residents, business people, students and tourists alike. The hotel will also include a private dining room and exceptional meeting and banquet facilities. An outdoor walking garden is planned, allowing guests a pleasant retreat for meditation, yoga and reading.

The hotel is being constructed by Newton based Young Construction, who has several impressive commercial and residential developments in the City of Cambridge.

The project has special meaning to Hay Creek Hotels’ President and CEO, Norman MacLeod, who grew up in Cambridge. “I’ve managed many hotel properties around the world,” said MacLeod, “but nothing is more special than being able to return home to combine my professional experience and local roots in managing this hotel.”

“The City of Cambridge is booming right now and the need for a new upscale independent hotel is paramount” MacLeod added, “There is a special niche of traveler who appreciates a small non-branded hotel that provides cultural significance, an exceptional level of personalized service along with an energetic restaurant featuring customized menu items with food delivered fresh daily from local organic farms, fisheries and purveyors. A “non cookie cutter” property that reflects the special location that it is in”.

The Porter Square Hotel is scheduled to open in the spring of 2015 and will be a welcome addition to the Cambridge/Boston community.
