Orlando sets the stage for AIBTM 2014

The city has undergone a number of new initiatives and improvements over the past year and the award-winning facility, Orange County Convention Centre (OCCC), (host to AIBTM 2014), was nominated in 2013 as a top convention centre in the U.S. by Business Review USA.

Orlando (recently voted as one of the top three cities for meetings and events in the U.S., according to the Cvent Supplier Network) is setting the stage for this year’s AIBTM, the Americas Incentive, Business Travel & Meetings Exhibition, taking place 10th – 12th June at the Orange County Convention Centre in Orlando.

The city has undergone a number of new initiatives and improvements over the past year and the award-winning facility, Orange County Convention Centre (OCCC), (host to AIBTM 2014), was nominated in 2013 as a top convention centre in the U.S. by Business Review USA.

“Orlando is one of the top meetings and convention destinations in the world,” said George Aguel, President & CEO, Visit Orlando. “We have an incredible diversity of hotel and resort properties, a world-class convention center recognised annually for its services and amenities, and hospitality that is second to none. Our team at Visit Orlando is working with Reed Travel Exhibitions to ensure a successful meeting for attendees this year.”

Michael Lyons, Reed Travel Exhibitions, AIBTM Exhibition Director adds, “We are thrilled that Orlando will be hosting AIBTM 2014, and we look forward to experiencing exactly what this wonderful city has to offer. It has all the components of a great meetings destination, and we are delighted to provide Orlando with the opportunity to showcase their offering to attendees from all over the world.”

Orlando also benefits from efficient transportation links, facilitating both regional and international connections for AIBTM attendees. With Orlando International Airport (MCO) approving plans to almost double its passenger capacity to 45 million travellers per year, and Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) announcing a record breaking year, processing over two million passengers through its gates in 2013 (+12% from 2012), the city provides the perfect platform to host major international exhibitors.

The city is set to welcome a number of new hotels in 2014. These include Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort, located minutes from the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, with 444 guest rooms, a Tom Fazio-designed golf course, full-service spa, three restaurants. The Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort is also set to open this year, and is soon to be the fourth and largest onsite hotel at Universal Orlando Resort. With 1,800 rooms, the hotel has taken inspiration from retro resorts of the 1950s and 60s.

Lyons concludes, “The destination has been identified as a key choice for international buyers looking to place business within the U.S. Exhibitors interested in signing up to showcase their products and Hosted Buyers looking to do business in the U.S. should visit aibtm.com for more information.”
