Demand for UK breaks remains high in first months of 2014

The most enquired about location for January and February 2014 was London, with the county of Cornwall running very close behind. Sussex saw an increase in demand since 2013 to claim fifth place in the list, while the Yorkshire Dales also shot up in popularity, securing seventh place.

The UK is set for another year of record-breaking tourist appeal as holidaymakers choose to take a break in the UK over more distant shores, according to the UK’s leading vacation rentals website holidaylettings.co.uk.

Certain areas of the UK have seen a huge increase in enquiries in 2014, meaning that of the ‘top 10’ list of most popular destinations so far this year, six are in the UK – two of which beat typical favourites such as the Costa Blanca and the Algarve.

The high demand for UK breaks means that now is the perfect time to consider renting out your home as a holiday let. Home owners can benefit from a continuing increase in the popularity of holidaying in the UK by renting out their property to holidaymakers who are keen to explore the country while enjoying a ‘home-from-home’ environment. Holidaylettings.co.uk makes the process easy and secure, allowing home owners access to millions of interested holidaymakers.

Kate Stinchcombe-Gillies, spokesperson for Holiday Lettings, said that there has never been a better time to rent out your home as a holiday let.

“The UK is proving almost infallible as a holiday destination and therefore as an investment opportunity too. Despite unpredictable weather and not cheap prices there’s little that appears to be able to stem enthusiasm for UK cottage and home rentals. Home owners can create a potentially significant income stream by letting out their property – whether it be a second home or their primary home while they take a break themselves.

“Many parts of the UK are in demand with holidaymakers all year round, so why not make the most of your property assets?”

The top 10 destinations were:

  • London, England
  • Alicante, Costa Blanca
  • Cornwall, England
  • Algarve, Portugal
  • Sussex, England
  • Yorkshire Dales, England
  • Florida, USA
  • Devon, England
  • Maritimes, France
  • Gloucestershire, England
