Hertz invests in Ras al Khaimah

With 1.2 million tourists visiting the region last year and an expected population growth of 4.7% by 2015, Ras Al Khaimah is quickly establishing itself as the emerging destination of the UAE, according to Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority.

DUBAI – As part of Hertz’s continuous expansion, the company has announced the opening of a new car rental location in booming Ras Al Khaimah, a move aimed to capitalise on the increasing number of tourists visiting the emirate.

With 1.2 million tourists visiting the region last year and an expected population growth of 4.7% by 2015, Ras Al Khaimah is quickly establishing itself as the emerging destination of the UAE, according to Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority.

Less than an hour’s drive from Dubai International Airport, the new Hertz UAE branch inside Al Hamra Mall is situated within the boundaries of Al Hamra Village, the most popular community in the Northern Emirates.

Nigel Johnson, Managing Director of Hertz UAE, said: “This new Hertz UAE branch in Ras Al Khaimah is in line with the surge in tourism to the area, as well as the renewed confidence in the UAE property market. With five hotels and Al Hamra Golf Club all within a five minute walk from the new car rental location, the strategic location inside the Al Hamra Mall ensures that Hertz can be closer to the customer.

“We have experienced significant growth in business in 2013, and opening up a location in one of the busiest malls in Ras Al Khaimah will ensure we can enhance our presence in 2014, both in the Northern Emirates and across the UAE.”

With 70% of tourists coming from Germany, Russia and the UAE, Ras Al Khaimah is aiming to have 10,000 hotel rooms available by 2016 to accommodate its growing number of holidaymakers attracted to its beautiful landscapes, outdoor activities, distinguished geographical location and all-year round climate.

“Having a car rental outlet in a prime location such as Al Hamra Mall is great for promoting tourism in Ras Al Khaimah,” said Steven Rice, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority. “It will be extremely accessible for tourists and residents alike and will give people the opportunity to explore the region’s unique combination of desert, mountains and more than 64 kilometres of natural coastline.”

“As a result of the government’s strategic focus on developing the emirate’s tourism offering, Ras Al Khaimah has attracted investments from major international brands, and this year alone we have seen three new leading hotels open on Al Marjan Island. Tourism and development are on the rise and it’s a very exciting time.”
