Megabus.com reaches 35 million passengers

Company grew 20.3 percent in the last year; Now serving 32 states and more than 120 cities across North America.

NEW YORK – Megabus.com, the first city-to-city, express bus company with fares from $1, has served 35 million passengers across North America as of today.

In celebration of the milestone, megabus.com awarded customer Lena Jackson, from Akron, Ohio, with an Apple iPad Mini during a celebration event Monday morning at the megabus.com arrival/departure location at the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) Stephanie Tubbs Jones Transit Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

megabus.com has expanded rapidly over the course of its seven-year existence, from serving seven cities to/from Chicago in April 2006 to now serving more than 120 cities across North America.

Notable service expansions over the last three months include the additions of Columbia, S.C. and Fayetteville, N.C., helping megabus.com reach 32 states served. In the last year, the company has increased sales by 20.3 percent in North America.

Schwieterman, Professor, School of Public Service and Director of Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development at DePaul University, while announcing “2014 Year-in-Review of Intercity Bus Service in the United States” study results on January 14. According to the study, express bus transportation remains the fastest-growing and most economical transportation mode and express bus carries like megabus.com provided American travelers savings of $1.1 billion over the past year with the average customer saving more than 79 percent relative to flying (with advanced purchase).
