Six Flags Hurricane Harbor opens Wahoo Racer

Two-tier racing-style slide complex is largest of its kind in the world.

ARLINGTON, TEXAS – Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, the largest water park in North Texas, is off to the races this weekend with the opening of Wahoo Racer! This exciting six-lane water slide complex is the largest of its kind in the world.

Wahoo Racer’s unique design allows riders to enjoy two different adrenaline-charged experiences on one massive structure. Standing nearly 60 feet tall, this two-tier mat racer sends guests, head first, down an exhilarating, zigzagging and refreshing ride through colorful enclosed tubes before shooting them out into multi-styled racing lanes. Riders then transform into racers and zoom down at speeds of up to 40 feet per second on aero-dynamically designed water toboggans for the final stretch. Thrill seekers will want to race again and again for their chance to be crowned Wahoo Racer champion.

“This one-of-a-kind slide complex symbolizes our ongoing commitment to remain the leader in providing innovative family fun,” said Steve Martindale, Six Flags Hurricane Harbor park president. “Hurricane Harbor has been a staple in North Texas for more than 30 years offering a growing number of unparalleled water park thrills for guests of all ages.”

The addition of Wahoo Racer is an excellent complement to the park’s more than 40 rides and attractions and is part of the second phase of Hurricane Harbor’s multi-year enhancement program. A new retail location, season pass processing facility and upgraded restrooms have also been added.

Wahoo Racer opens Saturday, May 24, 2014. Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is open weekends only through Sunday, June 1, 2014. Daily operation for the season begins Thursday, June 5, 2014.
