SONIFI Solutions and LG Electronics USA launched an on-property trial of Smart Mirroring

Mobile Devices bring living room quality entertainment to hotel rooms with SONIFI and LG 'Smart Mirroring' collaboration.

LOS ANGELES – SONIFI Solutions and LG Electronics USA have launched an on-property trial of “Smart Mirroring,” a cutting-edge solution for hotel guests that seamlessly displays content from their personal devices on the in-room LG Smart TV.

Announced at HITEC 2014, the trial at a Sunstone Hotel property is showing how Smart Mirroring allows for real-time guest engagement through the traveler’s Android TM or Windows-based smartphone by providing location-based services and delivering in-room entertainment-rivaling what is now available in most homes.

To implement Smart Mirroring on its hospitality TVs, LG Electronics is working with leading in-room entertainment provider and hospitality system integrator SONIFITM. The combination of SONIFI’s STAY1000TM and LG’s Smart TV technologies helps make guests’ use of the Smart Mirroring capability simple and intuitive.

Creating a closed network between a Smart TV and the guest’s mobile device, Smart Mirroring enables guests to watch anything on the TV that is available on their phone such as personal photos, videos and apps. Guests can even stream content to their TV using their wireless carrier’s LTE bandwidth or the hotel Wi-Fi network and can be enabled with or without a set-top-box. This solution is expected to be available on LG hotel Smart TVs later this year.

Bob Combie, Vice President of Asset Management of Sunstone Hotel, said, “Guest demand for watching their own content on their smartphones and tablets has increased exponentially over the last couple of years. We see this technology as a way to satisfy them and further enhance guest satisfaction.”

“We’re pleased at the well coordinated effort SONIFI and LG demonstrated, and anticipate gaining significant insights on technological performance and guest feedback from the trial,” he added.
