Six Senses Spa selected as Spa Operator at Al Bustan Palace, A Ritz-Carlton Hotel

BANGKOK – Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas announce that Six Senses Spas has been selected to manage the impressive 32,000 square foot (3,000 square meter) spa at Al Bustan Palace, A Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Muscat, Oman set to open February 2015. Reflective of traditional Omani design, the spa will beautifully complement the hotel and feature domed ceilings, elegant arched walkways and columns, falaj (water channels) reflecting pools and natural stone walls and floors.

Bernhard Bohnenberger, president of Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, said “Six Senses Spa Muscat located at Al Bustan Palace, A Ritz-Carlton Hotel will take the spa experience in the Middle East to a whole new level. From glorious architecture to results-driven wellness programs, Six Senses is eager to take on management of this exciting project which has been in the planning stage for several years. Six Senses is thrilled to be part of this wonderful project.”

A five-minute walk from Al Bustan Palace, the spa is artfully built into the surrounding landscape of towering stone and rock cliffs of the Haijar Mountains and follows the natural progression of the wadi (valley). Housed on three levels much like an ancient Arabian fort, heavy wooden doors flank the imposing entrance that leads into a smaller entryway.

The spa is comprised of a large reception area; relaxation lounge with a library, game room and a green bar serving Six Senses nutrition shots, B(eat)Y shots, power juices and express beauty services. With 17 treatment rooms and a myriad of wet facilities such as infrared saunas, showers, ice showers, relaxation areas and hammams, the facility will entice the most discerning spa goer. In the meditation and yoga pavilions, guests can experience Six Senses newly launched yogic programs and immerse themselves in reconnecting experiences through the group’s expert visiting practitioners program.

A private ladies only club offers prenatal treatments, female energy programs, anti-aging with preventive and corrective facial care and Six Senses Skin PT concept. The club includes a reception, gym, yoga studio, relaxation area, majali (intimate seating/meeting area), manicure and pedicure station, double beauty room with shower, double treatment with shower, hammam and ice shower plus a well-maintained library. The facility also features a ladies only pool and the only private beach for women in the country.

Spa goers will enjoy a wide selection of locally-inspired massages, facials, wellness therapies and rituals plus body, beauty and fitness treatments. One of the treatment highlights will be a special treatment delivered in a nearby natural outdoor bath nestled in the side of the mountain.

Intimately involved in the conceptualization of the spa, Six Senses appointed Bangkok firms Februar as project architect and P49 for interior design.
