Barbican launches online booking system for meetings spaces

The system, which is currently available for the Barbican’s Frobisher boardroom allows meetings to be booked up until 3pm the day before through a secure system that also takes payment.

The Barbican’s online booking tool goes live next Monday, allowing meeting planners to book space, and catering via barbican.quickquotemeetings.com.

The online booking system can be previewed on the Barbican’s stand at The Meetings Show.

The system, which is currently available for the Barbican’s Frobisher boardroom allows meetings to be booked up until 3pm the day before through a secure system that also takes payment.

Recently refurbished, the Boardroom is fully equipped with an 80” screen, Barco clickshare system which allows up to 4 simultaneous presentations, Skype facilities, dedicated Wi-Fi network and all of the usual in room AV facilities required by the event planner. You can even write on the walls in this creative environment!

“The Frobisher Boardroom was the perfect space to trial this new system,” comments the Barbican’s Head of Event Management, Lee Dobson. “It is primarily used by companies with the City, looking for a private space away from the office, and frequently these bookings are made as late as the morning of the actual meeting. This system links directly to our live venue diary, allowing clients to instantly see availability and book space quickly and with ease.”

The system also allows clients to select from a range of catering packages complementing the in-room Nespresso coffee machine that is included within the venue hire fee, providing a one stop environment.

Dobson concludes: “We are always investigating ways to better serve our clients and respond to their ever-changing needs. This system does exactly that, whilst keeping the Barbican at the forefront of venue service levels – all made possible through creative use of technology.”

Barbican is Europe’s largest combined conference and arts venue. Located in The City of London, it is capable of holding meetings from 10-2,000 delegates in its fully equipped concert hall, theatres, conference suites and boardrooms. Barbican Business Events brings together the venues expertise in the arts and corporate meetings. Built as part of London’s Barbican development 30 years ago and officially opened in March 1982 by HM Queen Elizabeth, unlike many other venues, Barbican was specifically built with the dual purpose of holding conferences and arts events presenting a diverse range of art, music, theatre, dance, film and creative learning events.
