mia tackles industry tranining Needs with overhauled learning and development academy

The workshops available through the mia Learning and Development Academy are divided into three core categories; ‘Being the Best’, ‘Skills for Growth’ and ‘Developing People’.

The meetings industry association has expanded the scope of the mia Learning and Development Academy, the cost-effective professional development resource made available to the association’s members. Delivered in partnership with specialist training provider, First Class learning and development, the Academy, which previously focused on sales training, now provides a wider array of workshops, such as revenue management, customer service, budgeting and planning and people management.

“The mia Learning and Development Academy has been completely overhauled. Following a comprehensive examination of the industry’s training requirements, including the opportunity for mia members to voice their opinions. The process ascertained where gaps existed in the training resources offered and as a result we have substantially increased the topics available” comments Jane Longhurst, mia Chief Executive, “We believe this resource will prove hugely beneficial to our members, enabling them to make improvements across all business functions, while helping them to enhance the career progression they offer employees, which in turn gives them an advantage when seeking to attract the most talented and committed candidates for roles at all levels.”

The workshops available through the mia Learning and Development Academy are divided into three core categories; ‘Being the Best’, ‘Skills for Growth’ and ‘Developing People’.

‘Being the Best’ ensures the people in your team are the ‘best’ they can be, from recruitment to developing skills and service excellence.

‘Skills for Growth’ develops specific skills, such as communication, sales and lead generation.

‘Developing People’ focuses on applying skills that enable employees to progress in their chosen careers.

Workshops are delivered at venues across the country and are available to mia members at a specially discounted rate.
