The Meetings Show gets EFAPCO “thumbs-up”

The show featured some 10,000 pre-scheduled appointments involving 721 hosted buyers and 2,433 trade visitors, a 27 percent rise on 2013, who, along with the exhibitors, totalled 4,626 participants according to early, unaudited, figures.

EFAPCO’s new President, Ivo Miksa, jetted in from Prague for his first visit to The Meetings Show which, last week brought a remarkable 4,626 industry professionals to Olympia in London.

“I was glad to take part. It was more focused, more concentrated, more convenient compared with other major shows like IMEX and EIBTM and it takes place in a more comfortable venue,” he said.

“It was great to meet such a broad spectrum of the UK meetings and events industry and an impressive proportion of European participants with a programme providing a good mix of business and educational sessions. Time spent with other PCO organisations also proved invaluable, along with meeting key people from all the other aspects of the conference industry.

“I also discussed, with Paul Kennedy chair of the show’s Advisory Board, the future potential for co-operation between EFAPCO and The Meetings Show.”

“There were some interesting discussions during the Association Meetings Conference, as well, highlighting new measures impacting the conduct of medical meetings and underscoring the fact that the PCO is NOT dead – it is a fast-evolving organisation and is here to stay!

“And it was abundantly clear that risk-taking, ROI, financial knowledge plus legal and ethical issues are all factors leading to the ever-growing complexity of meetings organisation, which will all demand better structures within our operations along with permanent education systems and flexible responses to market challenges.”
