LAN and TAM Airlines launch new mobile app with MTT and hits No. 1 spot in Apple App Store

The app, first launched for LAN Airlines in Chile went straight to no 1 in the Chilean Apple App Store and to no 2 in both Peru and Argentina.

SANTIAGO, CHILE / SAO PAULO, BRAZIL and DUBLIN, IRELAND – Mobile Travel Technologies Ltd. (MTT), a leading mobile apps, mobile web and mobile technology products provider for airlines and LATAM Airlines Group, the largest airline group in Latin America, revealed the successful launch of the new app for LAN and TAM Airlines. The iOS app may be downloaded from the Apple App Store in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Paraguay as well as in US, UK, Spain, Germany and Italy.

The app, first launched for LAN Airlines in Chile went straight to no 1 in the Chilean Apple App Store and to no 2 in both Peru and Argentina. The app has been downloaded 100,000 times in just few weeks with over 40,000 app check-ins done to date. This is a great endorsement for LATAM’s mobile app roll out with MTT, and the subsequent launch in Brazil of the TAM Airlines app has also enjoyed similar success with a strong initial take up and response.

For LATAM Airlines Group, which flies over 60 million passengers a year to over 135 destinations in 24 countries this new app is a key component in the airline’s customer centric strategy. “We wanted to create a mobile app with customer experience at its heart”, comments Eli Senerman, Senior VP Direct Channels for LATAM Airlines Group and adds: “We chose MTT based on their unrivalled mobile expertise and ability to provide our passengers with a 5-star mobile experience”.

The app is available in English, Spanish and Portuguese and provides LATAM’s travellers with the ability to check-in for flights and when viewing  their ‘My Trips’ section be presented with an overview of their upcoming journey and the ability to check the status of their flight. The app also integrates loyalty functionality so LAN and TAM travellers have the option to access LANPASS and Fidelidade frequent flyer programmes through the app.

Over the next few months further functionality will be added to the app to ensure the best user experience and increased mobile engagement based on the needs of LATAM’s customers for the mobile channel. So far key features have been rolled out in a logical manner, using an agile approach, with a focus on great design and usability. The next stage of the project will involve the development of an Android app and implementation of MTT’s Intelligent Push Engine, MTT Engage, which will enable LATAM Airlines Group to connect with customers at the right time in their journey with real time travel updates and personalized messages and offers.
