Gay European Tourism Association launches new communications service aimed at gay travellers

GETA partners with Grayling to launch communications services aimed at gay tourists.

The Gay European Tourism Association (GETA) has appointed Grayling as its worldwide public relations partner. As well as promoting the work of GETA, Grayling will also support the Association’s new gay communications service for its business members. Gaywelcomms is a full PR, advertising and social media service for tourism businesses wanting to reach LGBT tourists.

Formed in 2011, GETA is dedicated to promoting gay travel into and within Europe. With a European market worth a (conservatively) estimated €50 Billion per annum[i], GETA helps its 4,200+ corporate members understand the scale and behaviour of the European gay tourism market, and helps them to ensure that their products and services are welcoming to LGBT holidaymakers.

The partnership with Grayling also includes GayWelcome, Europe’s largest LGBT tourism website, which showcases European events, hotels, tours and cruises, and contains up to date travel news and destination guides.

Carlos Kytka, Executive Director, GETA said ”LGBT people are the perfect tourists. We travel more, spend more and are not restricted to school holidays. GETA provides a suite of tools to help any business in the tourism sector build their internal and external LGBT credentials by enhancing their appeal and Gaywelcomms is a great new addition to our member services. It isn’t about painting your hotel pink and waving a few rainbow flags; it’s about making small changes to established processes and services to make gay people feel truly welcome.”

Tristan Pineiro, heading up the initiative for Grayling said: “We are very excited to be working with GETA at a time when history is being made. Our use of data to inform our strategies is completely aligned with the way GETA operates, and we look forward to applying our expertise in the travel market and engaging our global network with this important client.”

Mr. Kytka concluded: “We have a number of campaigns planned for the coming months, with some exciting partners. Our aim is to make travel in Europe a diverse and inclusive experience and to help our members provide, and the LGBT public enjoy, a great travel experience.”
