The Declan Suites San Diego completes multi-million dollar renovation to public spaces

With a prime downtown location, The Declan offers unrivaled comfort and proximity to San Diego's most vibrant cultural happenings.

SAN DIEGO – The Declan Suites, formerly the Sheraton Suites, debuted this week a sophisticated new look, ushering in a hotel intimately linked to the origins of the city’s musical and cultural soul. Operating under new management, the independent 264 room property underwent an extensive four-month renovation, uncovering a fresh, vibrant appearance to its public spaces that now boast an engaging vibe and cutting-edge technology.

With a prime downtown location, The Declan offers unrivaled comfort and proximity to San Diego’s most vibrant cultural happenings. Staying true to its cultural roots, the property is musically engaging throughout as a nod to its neighbor, Copley Symphony Hall. From the dozens of vintage records to the repurposed oil can Bohemian Guitars available for guests to play around the property, The Declan provides a visual and auditory homage to its well-historied past.

“We look forward to continuing the integration of The Declan Suites into San Diego’s diverse cultural landscape,” says Alex Dallocchio, general manager of The Declan Suites. “This renovation has given us the opportunity to create a distinctive hotel experience by assimilating all the best the city has to offer in terms of art, music and technology.”

At the heart of the first-phase transformation is Deck 12, an expansive 5,400-square-foot restaurant, bar lounge and private meeting space abundant in fresh, local offerings inspired by San Diego’s laid back culture. The property has brought on Joshua Soth, a highly regarded Chicago chef who recently relocated to San Diego. Los Angeles-based firm, Design 360 Unlimited, known for its work on such luxury properties as the Fairmont San Francisco, infused the communal area with elements intended to resemble a resort-like deck, brimming with casual elegance.

To complement the property’s new personality, The Declan is rolling out a suite of interactive hotel programming that capture the authentic SoCal spirit. For the thrill-seeker, the hotel has established a unique partnership with Ducati that allows guests the opportunity to rent the luxury Italian motorcycles. Music purists can rent one of the hotel’s Crosley Cruiser turntables or borrow one of the Fender Acoustic guitars on display throughout the hotel to create their own musical experience.
