NEW YORK – To celebrate the release of the movie “The Hundred-Foot Journey,” Atout France – France Tourism Development Agency and the Midi-Pyrenees Tourism Board are running a campaign to entice the American public and invite them to visit this iconic region of the Southwest of France.

“The Hundred-Foot Journey” starring Helen Mirren, Om Puri and Charlotte Le Bon was filmed in the village of Saint-Antonin which is located in the Tarn area of the region of the Midi-Pyrenees. The campaign is the perfect opportunity to showcase a region most notable for its architectural heritage, majestic countryside, not to mention its world-class gastronomy, wines and spirits.

Offering a journey of its own, the campaign walks readers through the best of what the region has to offer, revealing its charming medieval villages, like St-Antonin, Rocamadour, Cordes-sur-Ciel and St-Cirq-Lapopie as well as its imposing castles and fortresses with names like Castelnau, Monsegur and Najac. It also reveals the region’s majestic natural heritage from the Pyrenees Mountains to the spectacular canyons of the Gorges of the Tarn and of the Aveyron.

Like the movie, it also shares tasty insights into one of France’s most celebrated culinary regions which boasts 26 Michelin-starred chefs and a wealth of regional specialties ranging from foie gras and truffles to the Malbec wines of Cahors or Gascony-produced Gaillac wines and golden-colored Armagnac.

Highlights also include world-class museums such as the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum in a gem-of-a-town called Albi featuring the world’s largest collection of the artist’s work and the recently opened Musee Soulages in Rodez, dedicated to the world renowned contemporary artist Pierre Soulages.

Readers will also find information on events including the remarkable Marciac Jazz Festival, whose patron is Wynton Marsalis and on major sites that include ultra-modern marvels such as the Millau Viaduct, one of the world’s longest and highest cable-stayed bridges that spans the Tarn River Valley.
