AIRMALL completes renovations to Terminal E Food Court at Boston Logan International Airport

Concessions updates follow substantial investment in new concessions in Terminal B this spring.
BOSTON – AIRMALL USA, developer of the leading airport concessions model in North America and operator of the AIRMALL at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), continues to enhance the traveler experience at BOS with recent improvements to the Terminal E food court. The renovations include numerous cosmetic updates to the food court, along with the installation of a new “Living Wall.” These improvements to the concessions program follow a $3.7 million investment in the construction of new retail units in Terminal B this spring. The new units, which include seven new shops and eateries, added 5,000 square feet of concessions space to the terminal.

Part of AIRMALL’s commitment to the airports that we serve is our ongoing investment in the concessions program. This investment not only includes bringing new and exciting local and national brands to the airport, but also refreshing and refurbishing existing units to keep them renewed and updated,” said Michael Caro, vice president of AIRMALL Boston. “We’ve seen our investment come to fruition with the exciting openings of several new units earlier this year. Now, we’re pleased to announce these recent renovations to the Terminal E food court and think that travelers will enjoy relaxing in this inviting space with a meal or snack before their flight.”

Renovations to the food court include the installation of new chairs, new table tops, a new wall paneling system, and new paint. AIRMALL also added four 5-foot-high “Living Walls” that hold potted plants to symbolize life inside of the airport. They were installed by Cityscapes, a Boston-based company focused on enriching environments through the power of plants. The Living Walls will help provide natural air filtration, help remove VOC’s and other harmful toxins from the air, and provide sound insulation and acoustical separation. Additionally, the walls are designed to help reduce travelers’ stress and create ambiance to produce a pleasing and productive environment.

Since 2000, AIRMALL Boston has led the development of the retail concessions program for Boston Logan International Airport terminals B and E. A focus on brands, local owners, and competition has led to a doubling of sales and space over that period. In May 2014, AIRMALL announced the opening of several new concessions units in the new terminal B connector at BOS. Units included unique regional specialties like Stephanie’s, Berkshire Farms Market, and Legal Sea Foods along with well-known national brands such as Peet’s Coffee & Tea and Be Relax spa. The addition of these new shops and eateries helped bring 138 more jobs to the airport.
