Hyatt Regency Orlando serves up big numbers this convention season

Orlando's top-ranked meetings and conventions property offers a sneak peek of how it accommodates 1 million attendees.

ORLANDO, FLA. – Hyatt Regency Orlando, the city’s top-ranked meetings and conventions property as ranked by Cvent, released meetings and conventions season by the numbers. The International Drive hotel – with two direct connections to the Orange County Convention Center and a third opening in early 2015 – is finalizing preparations for a successful season after recently being named a winner of Meetings and Conventions Magazine’s Gold Key Award and Association Conventions & Facilities Magazine’s 2014 Distinctive Achievement Award.

Hosting more than 2,500 events and 1 million attendees per year in the Cvent-ranked No. 2 meetings and conventions destination in the nation, Hyatt Regency Orlando dedicates a lot of time and effort behind the scenes to ensure successful meetings with exceptional service. The property offers 315,000 square feet of state-of-the-art flexible function space – the most of any Hyatt hotel in the U.S. – with five pillar-free ballrooms, 105 breakout rooms, executive boardrooms, conference rooms, and indoor-and-outdoor venues.

To energize these meeting-goers, the hotel brews 1.32 million pounds of coffee per year, enough java to fill more than five Olympic-sized swimming pools. Mealtime is also serious business for the hotel’s banquet staff, requiring 3,500 pounds of salt and pepper annually and at least five pounds of butter per meal, or 22,000 sticks annually. Stacked into a tower, that is enough butter to climb half of Mount Kilimanjaro.

“It takes a lot of resources to serve the No. 1 travel destination in the U.S. with more than 60 million visitors, and we love doing it,” Hyatt Regency Orlando Area Vice President and Regional Manager Tom Smith said. “Orlando is a world-class meetings and convention destination, and we’re doing everything possible to make sure it stays that way.”

The hotel has also strategically created “networking niches” throughout the property, like the 6,000-square-foot Rocks lounge, giving guests space to refresh, recharge and rejuvenate. After long days on the convention floor, The Spa’s corporate program is specifically designed to stimulate the mind, balance group energy and revive the brain. Business meeting rejuvenation breaks include massage trains, breathing and relaxation exercises and Tai Chi Flow, while specialized spa buyout packages offer everything from deep-tissue massages to wellness workshops and health seminars.

In addition to the hotel’s meeting catering options, Hyatt Regency Orlando’s restaurants provide fuel for tens of thousands of guests each year. Embracing Hyatt’s food philosophy “Thoughtfully Sourced. Carefully Served,” Fiorenzo Italian Steakhouse serves up the excitement of an authentic Italian restaurant combined with the tradition of a great American steak house, while Napa offers some of Northern California’s finest wine selections paired with organic, sustainable farm-to-table selections.

Located just 15 minutes from Orlando International Airport, Hyatt Regency Orlando accommodates meetings and conventions guests with its 1,641 guestrooms, four on-site restaurants, fitness center, salon and full-service spa treatments, tennis courts and three sparkling pools. Hyatt’s storied background in meetings and conventions can be found coast to coast.
