CHIA is the only hotel-related certification for hotel industry professionals focused on analytics.
HENDERSONVILLE, TENNESSEE – STR, Inc. and the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute will offer training for their new professional designation, the Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics, prior to the International Hotel, Motel & Restaurant Show in New York. The training will take place on Saturday, 8 November 2014 at New York University.
CHIA is the only hotel-related certification for hotel industry professionals focused on analytics. The certification is targeted at industry professionals such as general managers, revenue managers, corporate staff, travel and tourism professionals, trainers, and research staff from a variety of organizations.
“We’ve been pleased with the overwhelming response we have received for the CHIA program and by the range of different companies that are offering the certification to their employees,” said Steve Hood, VP of research at STR. “We’ve received incredible testimonials from industry professionals and from companies where we have conducted pilot programs, including experienced general managers and revenue managers.

Core content areas for the CHIA certification include:
- hotel industry analytical foundations;
- hotel math fundamentals;
- property level benchmarking, with STR’s STAR reports; and
- hotel industry performance reports.
CHIA training attendees will be exposed to an extensive program that includes quiz questions to help gauge comprehension, as well as case scenarios, sample reports, industry “tricks of the trade,” analysis examples, discussion questions and application exercises. Following the training program, attendees will have the opportunity to take the online exam at their convenience.
