MIA to welcome domestic low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines in December

Beginning December 20, Frontier will offer: daily service to Philadelphia; twice-daily flights to New York’s LaGuardia Airport; and ten weekly flights to their Denver hub.

MIAMI – Miami-Dade County officials and Denver-based low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines announced that the carrier will expand its popular low-fare service to Miami International Airport beginning this December. Frontier executives joined MIA and Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) leaders to unveil the airline’s plans to serve four U.S. cities from MIA, which will make Frontier the first domestic low-fare airline at the global gateway since 2012.

“Frontier Airlines’ arrival in Miami is just the latest indicator of our community’s ever-growing popularity as a destination for domestic and international travelers,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez. “Congratulations to the Miami-Dade Aviation Department and new airline partner Frontier Airways.”

Beginning December 20, Frontier will offer: daily service to Philadelphia; twice-daily flights to New York’s LaGuardia Airport; and ten weekly flights to their Denver hub. On March 2, 2015, the carrier will add daily service from Miami to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, bringing Frontier’s total weekly departures from MIA to 38. All flights will be operated using Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft.

“We welcome the arrival of Frontier Airlines at MIA and are thrilled to offer our customers this fantastic low-fare option to leading U.S. destinations,” said Miami-Dade Aviation Director Emilio T. Gonzalez. “Frontier is not new to South Florida, but their strong lineup of flights from MIA – nearly 40 each week – makes it clear that Miami is key to their future growth plans in the region.”
