Northern Caucasus Resorts JSC to present their project for the Northern Caucasus Tourist Cluster at RHIC

Aecom in partnership with Compagne des Alpes is designing an 18,000 bed ski resort across 5 villages in the Arkhyz area of the Northern Caucasus region of Russia. The resort will provide over 150 km of ski runs and a variety of accommodation.

LONDON – Northern Caucasus Resorts JSC is to present their project for a new tourist cluster in the Northern Caucasus Federal District, Krasnodar region and the Republic of Adygeya at the 10th annual Russia and CIS Hotel Investment Conference (RHIC), taking place 20-22 October at the new Radisson Royal Congress Park in Moscow.

During a hard-talk interview, Sergey Vereshchagin, CEO of NCR, will talk about the prospects of and current situation with Russia’s largest tourist infrastructure project.

Aecom in partnership with Compagne des Alpes is designing an 18,000 bed ski resort across 5 villages in the Arkhyz area of the Northern Caucasus region of Russia. The resort will provide over 150 km of ski runs and a variety of accommodation.

Investors are invited to take part in the development of the Arkhyz resort, the pilot part of the project, which started its test run in December of 2013 and has already received more than 85,000 tourists in its first winter and summer seasons. Further development of ski, hotel, leisure and commercial infrastructure according to the approved plans is proceeding apace. Investment opportunities include a range of hotel properties, a residential complex with chalets and apartments, an extended stay hotel and other properties. Expected payback for the commercial properties is 5 to 11 years.

NCR, the projects managing company, is currently concentrating its efforts on developing the first three recreational areas of the cluster, i.e. Arkhyz in Karachaevo-Cherkessia, Veduchi in Chechnya and Elbrus-Bezengi in the Elbrus mountain region (Kabardino-Balkaria).

Some of the issues to be discussed at the meeting with the NCR representatives are the partnership between the state and private investors, and the international cooperation in bringing the tourist cluster project to completion. Particular attention will be given to the area’s having special economic zone status, which entitles the residents to certain tax benefits and preferences.

Jonathan Worsley, Chairman of Bench Events, co-organiser of RHIC commented “Following on from RHIC in Sochi last year, we’re delighted to be able to host a hard-talk with Sergey Vereshchagin in Moscow, to hear more about the trends in the region, find out more about the Arkhyz development in particular and the other development opportunities in the mountain and sanitorium resorts in Southern Russia.”
