Prestige expands holiday options in Sicily with the addition of stunning boutique and agriturismo properties

All, except the Verdura Golf & Spa Resort near Sciacca on the stunning South West coast and Colverde Park in Agricento, are boutique or authentic agriturismo style properties.

Prestige Holidays has added nine properties in Sicily for 2015, four in the beautiful Baroque South East, three in the bustling resorts of Taormina and Giardini Naxos, one in Agrigento and one on the South West coast. All, except the Verdura Golf & Spa Resort near Sciacca on the stunning South West coast and Colverde Park in Agricento, are boutique or authentic agriturismo style properties.

Week-long stays start at the delightful 19 roomed Hotel Palladio overlooking a sandy beach in the heart of the seaside town of Giardini Naxos. New for 2015 this hotel is known locally for its fabulous rooftop restaurant serving the best and most innovative seafood in the area. Prestige’s break includes: return flights from Gatwick to Catania, private transfers and BB accommodation.

David Skillicorn, General Manager for Prestige Holidays, comments: “We are excited to be offering more holiday options in the Baroque South East for next year. There is a real potential for growth in this region, which is considered the Tuscany of Sicily. With rolling hills, stunning coastline and gorgeous Baroque architecture plus, food and wine to die for, it’s packed full of appeal for the independent traveller.

He added: “The holidays to this region also offer great value for money and the service in hotels is superb. Our bookings to Sicily this year were 50% up on last and we are hoping to see a similar growth next summer.”

Set on 570 acres and boasting stupendous sea views from every angle, the five star Verdura on the South West coast delivers a superb array of facilities and excellent service. This modern hotel features a fabulous 60m infinity pool, private beach, two championship 18-hole golf courses, a football pitch, six floodlit clay tennis courts plus, an amazing spa.

It makes a brilliant base for exploring attractions such as the Greek temples at Selinunte and Agrigento and the authentic fishing town and ceramics centre of nearby Sciacca.

Close to the centre of Agrigento, Colleverde Park Hotel is immersed in a lush park overlooking the Valley of the Temples and the sea at Agrigento. Fine ceramics, 19th Century Sicilian furniture and Persian carpets make for a prestigious but welcoming atmosphere at this property

New to Prestige’s agriturismo collection are three properties in the Baroque South East including: La Corte del Sole, a lovingly restored and authentic Sicilian ‘masseria’ overlooking the gorgeous Vendicari nature reserve. The property is close to some of Sicily’s finest sandy beaches and the Baroque treasure of Noto – the ‘in place’ to be in this South East corner.

Hotel Borgo Pantano near Siracusa is another delightful agriturismo addition. Immersed amongst the citrus groves of the Sicilian countryside close to Siracusa, this stylish and highly contemporary ‘baglio’ (farmhouse) has thirty two bedrooms. Not to be missed is a swim in the stunning pool, there’s also a small bar and a trendy restaurant with rooftop terrace serving up some of the best Sicilian cuisine. The Greek city and amphitheatre of Siracusa is just a 15 minutes’ drive away and both the Baroque gems and sandy beaches of the South East are within easy reach by car.

Artemisia near Ragusa is a loving restored Sicilian ‘masseria’ in a quiet and rural location just a 15 minutes’ drive from the historic UNESCO city of Ragusa. It has just 13 rooms and oozes Sicilian charm making it the ideal base from which to enjoy the Baroque gems of Ibla di Ragusa, Scicli and Modica.

Another addition in the South East is Palazzo Failla in Modica, a family owned and run baroque Palazzo with just seven bedrooms. Adjoining the property is the historic ‘Caffe Blandini’ and the well known Michelin starred restaurant ‘La Gazza Ladra’

In Taormina Mare the four star Panoramic and the five star Ashbee Hotels make an entrance. Boasting fabulous sea views across the enchanting azure bay of Isola Bella, the boutique style Panoramic is perfectly placed for exploring Taormina’s lovely coastline. Mount Etna and the authentic and mysterious villages of Savoca and Forza D’Agro are also within easy reach.

Combining the very best of Sicilian and British culture, The Ashbee is a small luxury boutique hotel built in 1908 as a villa for the British architect Charles Ashbee. This elegant property is located in a tranquil corner of Taormina yet just a few steps away from the vibrant centre of Sicily’s most fashionable resort.
