DWHC successfully concludes Food Safety workshops for Emirati participants

Sessions held in cooperation with Dubai Municipality aimed at ensuring the highest quality and standards of health and safety during the championship.

UAE – The Dubai World Hospitality Championship (DWHC) revealed the successful completion of a series of food and health safety workshops for Emirati participants in the championship. Held in cooperation with Department of Inspection and Food Control of Dubai Municipality, the sessions educated the participants on key guidelines and instructions related to ensuring the highest standards of safety and hygiene in the preparation of food. The series of workshops were held across the headquarters of various Women’s Associations located around the UAE. In response to the sessions, the participants lauded the objectives set forth by the workshops and promised to render outstanding performance when they compete in the championship, which celebrates the Emirati authentic hospitality, nobility of traditional cooking and represents an integral part of Emirati culture and heritage.

Hamad Al Qaydi, Local Products Support Manager, explained that the series of workshops were held in line with Dubai Municipality’s commitment to promote a culture of food safety across UAE society. He also added that the Dubai World Hospitality Championship remains steadfast in providing their support for the Emirati participants-encouraging them to achieve excellence and make a positive impact in the global hospitality map, which falls in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

“The workshops provide an important opportunity in enabling participants to upgrade their abilities and reinforce their commitment of time and matching the highest standards of safety, hygiene and quality, while at the same time maintain the traditional flavors in the preparation of food during the championship’ The event provides an ideal platform for the discovery of Emirati talent in the field of cooking and hospitality,” Al Qaydi stated.

Meanwhile, Amna Al Dhaheri, Emirati Competition Manager, said, “These workshops represent an important phase of the championship-supplying participants with the proper tools, guidance and instructions that are essential in the preparation of traditional Emirati dishes that have been handed down from generation to generation with the highest quality standards of food safety. We would like to thank Dubai Municipality for their support and cooperation in the organization of these workshops that serve the aspirations of efforts to spread the culture of food safety on a large scale among the UAE community. In addition, the Food Control Department of Dubai Municipality has expressed their commitment in monitoring the prepared entries during the DWHC competitions; ensuring that the quality of food being prepared adhere to global standards and will help position the UAE as a global centre for innovation and excellence in the hospitality industry.”

Sultan Ali Taher, head of food inspection section at Dubai Municipality, said: “The specially organized workshops that were held for participants in the coming DWHC holds special significance for Dubai Municipality as it falls in line with our endeavor to support Dubai’s vision to develop a globally accepted high level food safety system that can effectively provide safe and healthy food for all UAE residents and visitors. We affirm our support and cooperation with the DWHC. Rest assured that we will ensure the highest standards of health and food safety during the competition, which aims to reinforce UAE hospitality in the world map. We will also closely monitor and supervise the quality of the equipment, ingredients and the cuisine being offered during the seven-day tournament-providing key guidance to the participants as they try to showcase the UAE culinary arts.”
