GCC tourists flock to Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort

Tailored packages combining accommodation, flights and entertainment attractions boost traffic of GCC tourists to Morocco.

DUBAI, UAE – Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort, a leading destination in North Africa, has revealed that there has been a rise in inflow of GCC tourists to the resort, which is reflected in record traffic in the first 9 months of 2014.

Stephan Killinger, President, Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort, attributed this growing appreciation from GCC tourists to the package holidays combing accommodation, flights and entertainment attractions.

Mazagan has put together a strategy to focus on three key components: family attractions, MICE and sport initiatives. The three components are being boosted through a series of partnerships and MoUs signed with selected players from the field of travel and tourism.

“We have boosted our alliances with 8 airlines of the GCC and beyond, including Saudi Arabian Airlines (Al Fursan frequent flyer program), Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Emirates, Etihad, Qantas Frequent Flyer, Velocity Frequent Flyer and Krisflyer,” added Killinger.

The resort also introduced customized packages to attract more GCC tourists during summer. The package included accommodation for 2 adults and 2 kids, complimentary breakfast for 2 adults and 2 kids, free meals for kids, free access to 3 kids’ clubs (Baby Club, Kids Club and Club Rush), free access to Hammam steam room, Tennis, Fitness & biking, and complimentary airport shuttle service.

“Tweaking the packages always attracts more guests. We understand that a successful strategy can be built on end-users preferences, so we decided to create dedicated packages for different segments of visitors, such as individuals on a business trip, or families or those celebrating special occasions or attending sport events.”

A package for golf lovers was introduced under the name of Golf Unlimited, which is ideal for those who want to spend a vacation with the family, enjoy all the Mazagan attractions and experience a golf challenge, all from MAD 2650/ Night per room.

“We also launched a new sport initiative entitled ‘Champions of Mazagan’ in collaboration with leading figures in motorsport. The campaign was rolled out by partnering with Mehdi Bennani, the only Arab to be ranked in the global top ten in Touring Car Championship races. In this collaboration between Mazagan and Bennani, a series of sport events are being organized across Morocco and the world. It will also be followed by other activities in different sports in the coming period,” added Killinger.

Moreover, we have one of the best MICE centers in North Africa region, featuring 7 dedicated areas: Doukkala Ballroom (1,130 sq.m. partitioned into 3 rooms), El Jadida Conference Room (280 sq.m.. partitioned into 3 rooms), Azemmour Boardroom (84 sq.m.), Breakout rooms (10 – 12 people), Doukkala Private Garden (1,072 sq.m), Permanent outdoor structure (1,800 sq.m) and the Sunset Lounge (212 sq.m).

“Our occupancy rates have seen a dramatic increase as more people are encouraged to come to Mazagan regularly, as they will be rewarded for every mile they cross, due to our agreements with a number of airlines. We believe this strategy is working very well, as reflected in increased number of Arab vacationers descend on the resort to spend their holidays.”

For those who only prefer best-of-the-best, Mazagan will continue the Suites & Villas Benefits offer until the end of 2014. The package includes accommodation for 2 adults and 2 kids under 12 years old, complimentary breakfast for 2 adults and 2 kids (under 12), possibility of in-room breakfast, from 7am to 11am, welcome amenities in the room, 1 spa treatment for 2, for the price of 1, complimentary access to leisure and wellness activities: Biking, Tennis, Fitness Centre, Hammam, free access to kids clubs: Baby, Kidz and Rush, VIP fast track for Ambassador and Royal Suites guests, and scheduled airport shuttle.

French, Italian, and British markets take up the lion’s share of Mazagan stays. In addition, the resort has seen a perceptible rise in number of tourists from new markets, mainly the 6 GCC states, due to removal of visa requirements for nationals of those countries, as well as attractive tailored offers.

“To meet the rapidly increasing demand from the Middle East market, we have increased the number of Arab speaking staff. We are positive this will create a friendlier ambience for our Arab visitors,” Killinger concluded.
