TAME Airlines launches new nonstop route from Quito to Fort Lauderdale

The new nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale increases the connectivity between Ecuador and key U.S. markets, including Miami and Orlando.

QUITO, ECUADOR – TAME Airlines, one of Ecuador’s premiere airlines, launched a new service between Quito, Ecuador and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) beginning October 17, 2014. Officials and Executives from TAME Airlines, the Ecuadorian Ministry of Transportation, Broward County Aviation, FLL and the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) attended a press conference to celebrate the inaugural flight marking the ninth international destination for TAME Airlines.

The new nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale increases the connectivity between Ecuador and key U.S. markets, including Miami and Orlando. With more than 70,000 Ecuadorians living in Florida, TAME’s flight service provides easy and accessible options.

“It’s a historic day for the Ecuadorian commercial aviation industry. The new route establishes the first hub that an Ecuadorian company has placed in the country,” said Paola Carvajal, Minister of Transport and Public Works, before cutting the ribbon.

TAME General Manager Fernando Guerrero also reported that there will be a direct route from Guayaquil launching in November. The new route will have connections to other international destinations such as Sao Paulo and Lima. In addition, there will be connections between New York and Fort Lauderdale through the same airline.

The new route takes only four hours and will be offered daily from Quito at 2:15 a.m. and arriving to Fort Lauderdale at 7:15 a.m. The return from Fort Lauderdale departs at 9:00 a.m. and arrives in Quito at 12:00 p.m. An Airbus 320 with a capacity for 162 passengers and an Airbus 319 for up to 140 passengers will be used.

Airline tickets start at $455 and will be sold from the TAME sales office located in Miami and the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport as well as all travel agencies that are part of International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC).
