Virgin America touches down at LaGuardia

Award-winning airline now serves all three major New York City-area airports.

SAN FRANCISCO – Virgin America, the California-based airline that is reinventing air travel, launches its new service from New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) with four daily nonstop flights to Dallas Love Field (DAL). From today, the airline is now servicing all three major airports in New York, providing guests with more choice and convenience when travelling from the East Coast, with now up to 20 flights departing the New York metropolitan area each day.  Virgin America has already built a loyal following of bi-coastal flyers with its nonstop flights from LAX and SFO to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Virgin America’s new LGA service is perfectly tailored to the modern business traveler – offering both business-friendly amenities onboard and convenient airport options. Dallas’ beautifully renovated Love Field is a 10-minute car ride to that city’s downtown business district and LaGuardia offers convenient access for those headed to or from Manhattan. Virgin America will be the only carrier on the Dallas Love Field to LaGuardia routes to offer a consistent, upscale product on every flight — with three classes of service (including a First Class cabin and a Main Cabin Select premium economy service) as well as fleetwide WiFi, power outlets at every seat, confirmed seating, an award-winning full service food menu and touch-screen seatback entertainment available for every guest.

“We are excited to expand our footprint in New York even further with the addition of LaGuardia, becoming only the second low-cost carrier to serve all three major airports in the metropolitan area,” said Virgin America Senior Vice President of Planning and Sales, John Macleod. “We have had a great response to our fares so far, demonstrating that travelers are ready for more fare and product competition at LaGuardia, particularly on this key business route to Dallas Love Field. Our twenty new teammates here at LaGuardia can’t wait to showcase our industry-leading product and service to even more New York travelers.”

Virgin America secured 12 slots at LGA earlier this year as part of the American Airlines merger settlement. The new services have been timed to provide convenient connections with Virgin America’s new nonstop schedule from DAL. This includes three daily nonstop flights from DAL to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO). With a loyal following of business travelers, the airline recently announced plans to add a fourth daily trip from DAL to DCA, SFO and LAX as of April 2015.

“We are very pleased to welcome Virgin America to LaGuardia Airport,” said Lysa Scully, General Manager of LGA. “Expanded air travel strengthens existing business ties and benefits both the economies of both cities, while also providing additional travel options for customers throughout the metropolitan region.”
