New Sunday timings for Eastern Airways’ East Midlands service

The Sunday service will continue to complement Eastern Airways’ year-round choice of weekday departures with up to three flights a day from East Midlands to Aberdeen.

Eastern Airways is introducing new Sunday service timings on its East Midlands to Aberdeen route to benefit offshore workers and business travellers.

From 23 November 2014, Europe’s leading provider of fixed wing air services for the oil and gas industry will offer a more convenient later departure from East Midlands on a Sunday at 7.20pm, arriving in Aberdeen at 8.45pm. Sunday flights will depart Aberdeen at 5.30pm and arrive in East Midlands at 6.55pm.

The Sunday service is also expected to attract leisure travellers, but will particularly appeal to oil workers heading offshore early on a Monday morning and business commuters with Monday morning meetings.

The Sunday service will continue to complement Eastern Airways’ year-round choice of weekday departures with up to three flights a day from East Midlands to Aberdeen.

East Midlands Airport has recently opened a new executive lounge in the terminal. Passengers travelling on fully flexible Eastern Airways tickets and the airline’s Zonal and 4-4-3 route passes are now able to take advantage of the Escape Lounge, as they will have complimentary access.

All Eastern Airways scheduled customers continue to benefit from having a dedicated business lounge at Aberdeen Airport.

Kay Ryan, Eastern Airways’ commercial director, said: “We are offering East Midlands passengers even greater choice and improved flexibility with the re-timed Sunday service to Aberdeen. The later timings give our customers longer at home on a Sunday and the option of arriving in Aberdeen ready for early morning Monday appointments and onward travel connections.”

Andy Cliffe, managing director of East Midlands Airport, said: “Eastern Airways has been a longstanding partner of the airport and their domestic services to cities such as Aberdeen are of great value to our customers in the Midlands region. We are continuing to see strong growth here at East Midlands Airport, which is being supported by the terminal improvements we are making and the additional airline services we are looking to add.”

Eastern Airways first established scheduled services to Aberdeen from East Midlands in 2000.

A fast track security channel is available at East Midlands and Aberdeen airports for all Eastern Airways scheduled passengers to avoid any queues at security search, which also enables the airline to close check-in just 30 minutes before the departure time.  Complimentary drinks and snacks are offered on board the aircraft and there is no charge for check-in, baggage or choice of seat.

A network of services across to 17 airports in the UK, Norway and France is operated by the airline on a fleet of 31 regional aircraft.
