Club Med hotels lead the way in Brazil for exceptional food hygiene standards

With 10 per cent of the population without access to safe drinking water, Cristal International Standards is a key partner in ensuring that hotels are maintaining the highest hygiene standards in a rapidly developing tourist area.

Two Club Med hotels are the first to be recognised for their on-going commitment to exceptional food standards in Brazil. Club Med Itaparica and Club Med Trancoso have both exceeded independent audits scores from Cristal International Standards and qualify for Checksafetyfirst.com – the only site available to the travelling public with access to a database of venues that have obtained high standards.

The climate presents a challenge for Brazilian hotels and restaurants, which need to provide safe food and water to guests. With 10 per cent of the population without access to safe drinking water, Cristal International Standards is a key partner in ensuring that hotels are maintaining the highest hygiene standards in a rapidly developing tourist area.

The hotels are using the Cristal International Standards’ web-based auditing system, E-Cristal to standardise, manage and further improve hygiene standards. The system is supported by monthly unannounced audits to ensure that the safety standards continue and improve.

Both received exceptional independent audits scores using the FoodCheck food auditing system, with Club Med Trancoso also receiving outstanding audit scores in water safety using the AquaCheck module.

Mark Harrington, CEO at Cristal International Standards said, “We are thrilled to be working within Brazil’s hotel industry. The country has challenges to overcome and it’s great to see that these two hotels are taking the necessary steps to ensure that their guests are safe. We will work closely with staff members to ensure that these hotels continue to reach exceptional standards with hopefully more to follow.”
