Thomas Cook group airlines become first leisure carriers to adopt Amadeus’ complete suite of Altea solutions

Agreement incorporates dynamic pricing for ancillary services to support the airlines’ multi-channel merchandising strategy.

Amadeus and Thomas Cook group airlines announce an agreement which will see the latter become the first leisure carriers to adopt the Amadeus Altea solutions. Four of Thomas Cook group airlines based in Germany, the UK, Scandinavia and Belgium adopt Amadeus’ Altea suite as a single platform to manage reservations, inventory and departure control.

By unifying its IT systems across the group, Thomas Cook group airlines will be able to implement a customer-centric strategy offering a single consolidated customer touch point with comprehensive real-time information.

Thomas Cook and Amadeus have also renewed their long-term distribution agreement for Thomas Cook Tour Operator business across Europe. Amadeus is committed to continue investing in enabling retailing and merchandising capabilities such as the travel agencies’ distribution of ancillary service.

In addition to moving Thomas Cook group airlines to a single Passenger Service System, Amadeus will support the group in providing a better service to their customers through the delivery of personalized offers with pro-active and consistent communications across multiple channels. A key component of the technology offer is the innovative use of dynamic SSR (Special Service Request) pricing. This will allow Thomas Cook group airlines to adjust the price of their ancillary products based on a wide range of real-time information related to the customers and to the demand.

“The solution developed by Amadeus enables us to harmonize our multi-channel distribution strategy. Through a single inventory and distribution system, we are now in a position to reach out to tour operators and retail partners while servicing our own direct sales channels,” said Christoph Debus, Chief Air Travel Officer Thomas Cook Group plc. “In addition, connecting to Amadeus’ travel agency distribution network will help us to significantly to grow both volume and yield. Amadeus’ Altea suite will also enable us to provide the most relevant and personalized offers to all our customers”.

“We are very pleased to welcome Thomas Cook airlines as the first leisure travel group of carriers to join our Altea community,” said Julia Sattel, Amadeus SVP Airline IT. “It illustrates Amadeus’ commitment to the leisure segment, delivering all the benefits of an integrated IT platform paired with the global distribution strengths. We are committed to continue supporting the evolving needs and demands of the 21st Century travellers while helping the industry shape the future of travel”.
