Strong October passenger numbers at Southampton Airport

The fastest growing route was Dublin, with 54% extra passengers on five flights per day. Other popular growth routes include Amsterdam, Manchester, Belfast, Nantes, Guernsey, Jersey, Alicante, Malaga, Limoges and La Rochelle.

Southampton Airport has seen a total of 165,188 passengers through its doors during October 2014, which is 13.3% up on the previous year, representing an extra 19,375 extra passengers.

There was growth in all areas; with 46.5% more domestic passengers, 33.5% more international passengers and 20% more passengers between Southampton and the Channel Islands. The fastest growing route was Dublin, with 54% extra passengers on five flights per day. Other popular growth routes include Amsterdam, Manchester, Belfast, Nantes, Guernsey, Jersey, Alicante, Malaga, Limoges and La Rochelle.

Jan Halliday, Director of Marketing & Communications, said: “We have had strong passenger growth in 2014 so far and are delighted to see this continue into the autumn, including the popular half term week. We are now starting to get ready for the ski season which starts in December, with a wide range of ski resort options in the Alps & Pyrenees.”

Ski flights start in December to Andorra, Grenoble Innsbruck, Chambery, Salzburg and Geneva. In addition to this, flights are now on sale to a range of destinations for summer 2015. The airport has also just launched more transatlantic connections with Flybe and Aer Lingus, making Boston, New York, San Francisco, Orlando, Chicago and Toronto more accessible and affordable than ever before.
