CarTrawler makes much anticipated move beyond car rental

As customer expectations extend beyond car rental, one of the top ancillary earners, CarTrawler has anticipated the need for a more comprehensive range of ground transportation solutions that can be personalized by customer, by country and by continent.

DUBLIN – Airlines the world over share a common evolutionary pattern; the shift in focus from being a purely aviation-based service to becoming multi-product travel retailers. Airline revenue derived from ancillary sources is estimated to reach almost $50 billion in 2014. Earnings range from an additional $13 per passenger in Asia Pacific to $24 per passenger in Europe and Russia with the Americas topping the chart with average revenue of $26 per passenger from non-air fare related purchases.

For the past ten years, CarTrawler has been enabling airlines and other online travel retailers to proactively service this growing customer appetite for goods and services that previously may not have been considered core to their business. As customer expectations extend beyond car rental, one of the top ancillary earners, CarTrawler has anticipated the need for a more comprehensive range of ground transportation solutions that can be personalized by customer, by country and by continent.

From early 2015, over 500 million airline passengers will be able to choose the car, limousine with driver, taxi, shuttle service or GPS-located transport solution that best suits their needs, their location and their budget all delivered through the CarTrawler online marketplace. Many of these products are already available and the company has plans for significant expansion of this portfolio in 2015.

Bobby Healy, CTO of CarTrawler commented on the additional services which will be available to all CarTrawler Partners; “The CarTrawler marketplace enables online travel retailers to leverage their own brand strength to generate revenue and increase loyalty by providing their customers with an enhanced range of ground transportation services. Most importantly, we help them to make it easy for their customers by anticipating their needs and helping them to find the right mode of transport at the right price. As customers demand an increasingly personalised experience, our Data Scientists work to deliver what the customer wants, sometimes before they know they want it.”
